Niibori

In 1957, Dr. Hiroki Niibori established the Niibori Guitar Music School and created a new dimension for the guitar instrument. The Niibori method comprises of 16 different instruments which are adapted from the standard guitar, varying in size and tuning to provide a wide tonal range and as a result, a full orchestra of its own kind was formed. Today, the Niibori instruments are widely used in several countries by guitar ensembles to add flavour to their music.

Maestro Guitars is proud to produce two of the commonly used models of the Niibori series, namely the Alto (tuned a 5th higher than the standard guitar) and the Bass (tuned a 4th lower than the standard guitar and 1 octave lower than the Alto). The Alto produces a light and clear tone with a short scale, making it suitable for Renaissance and Baroque music, while the Bass reminds one of the swell of the ocean, well-suited for Bach music.
