Bai Yun (Carl), an up and coming Singaporean international award winning songwriter with Taiwanese heritage, first picked up guitar playing when he was 12 years old. Without the privilege of having any formal music training, there’s no lack of style and originality in Bai Yun's music. His music can be described as totally straight from the heart and simply put; he is a songwriter whose best friend is pure inspiration. Bai Yun has to date progressed from not only guitar playing but to playing the piano, bass, drums and several other instruments, but the guitar always remained his first love. Armed with a veteran's catalog of songs, a scope and depth of writing that ranges from pop, pop-rock, rock, R & B, groove and dance, Bai Yun's works have certainly made many major players in the industry sit up and take notice.
Bai Yun achieved success in music the old fashioned way, through sheer hardwork and today is the first Singaporean songwriter signed with Sony Music Publishing who is under a worldwide contract with them. Having written, arranged and produced for pop artiste - Mae's debut album (E-volution Records), he has never looked back.
Since Bai Yun have signed with Sony Music Publishing as their exclusive worldwide writer, he has, to date, penned songs and produced/arranged for some of the most talented artists around the world. Winner of the coveted MusicAid International Music Awards 2007 (Best Songwriter and Best Production), Bai Yun is setting his sights on bigger and better things to come.
Bai Yun's recent accolades include Cradle's debut album which won Album Of The Year at the APM 2008 music awards. Bai Yun plays and records in his fully equipped home studio with Maestro Guitars and Zen Basses.
