Since we decided to delve into Double Top guitars we received a lot of interest with this new technology. Though it has been around for a few years now from specialized luthiers, very few have seen its potential. It might be because of its complexity in terms of building.

Double Top soundboards are usually used for classical guitars. Offered only by a handful of makers, a Double Guitar tends to be very expensive ranging from $5000 and up and is only available through custom order.

DOUBLE TOP SERIES by Maestro Guitars

With our commitment to make boutique instruments available off-the-rack, we are proud to announce the launching of our DOUBLE TOP SERIES acoustic guitars. We are that Maestro is the first to launch an entire line of DOUBLE TOP acoustic guitars. Now, you can own a Double Top guitar at almost half the price and without the wait.

We will be launching this new series in this year’s Music China and will formally launch it in Singapore on the last week of October 2013.

WHAT IS A DOUBLE TOP?

Double Top soundboard is made of 2 thin layers of wood with a NOMEX Honeycomb as a core. With this material, the soundboard is a lot lighter yet stiffer making the instrument more responsive and expressive.

Based on our tests, our Double Top guitars are more projective not only in terms of volume but also in maintaining the same tonal quality even when played hard. The Double Top guitars are also more responsive even with the lightest touch, giving players a wider dynamic range when playing.

Aside from the improved projection and responsiveness, our Double Top Series guitar have noticeable increase in sustain, natural reverb (airiness), overtones and depth as compared to our guitars with traditional tops.

Which is better? It depends to you. We recommend that you should give our Double Top Series guitars a test alongside with other guitars with same specs in terms of body shape and tonewood.
