Bracing is the structural support of the soundboard and back that significantly shapes the sound of guitars and ukuleles. Bracing should be strong enough to resist the tension of the strings to the soundboard and body while light enough to allow the top to vibrate. Different bracing patterns have their own sonic characteristics. Aside from that, bracing material plays a big role in maintaining the structural integrity while ensuring the flexibility and the responsiveness of the top and back.
While other makers opt to standardize the position and dimensions of the bracing to increase productivity, we sculpt the bracing, also known as scalloped bracing, in relation to the stiffness of the top to ensure that every instrument we built is very responsive, have strong projection, and embodies the signature Maestro tone. This process, called tap tuning, is done by Hozen.
