What you will see in our booth…

With an extensive product line, it is quite impossible for us to bring all of our instruments to showcase it in Musikmesse. For this year, we decided to just bring a few instruments that highlights what we can do. Do take note that we might opt to sell these instruments during the show so do give us a visit as soon as you can before someone else buys it. In case we sell the instrument, owners can only collect the instrument on April 13.

Competition Mechanics:

• Open to everyone.
• Contestants must submit an original fingerboard inlay design in JPEG or PSD format using the provided fingerboard as a guide.
• Please indicate what materials are to be used for the inlay, for example, wood (specify type of wood), abalone, mother of pearl, etc. It is not necessary to affix the material in the image but doing so will be helpful in visualizing the overall feel of the design.
• Inlay design must not be offensive or degrading to another religion, race, class or ethnicity.
• Only entries that are affixed in the mock-up fingerboard will qualify.
• Contestants can submit as many entries as they can.
• Criteria for judging are as follows:

35%  Overall Design and Execution
20%  Concept and Originality
15%  Practicality
30%  Mass Appeal

2 Points for each Share of entry on Maestro’s Facebook Page
1 Point for each Like on entry posted on Maestro’s Facebook Page
Computation of Mass Appeal is (contestant’s points / total highest score of a  contestant)*30%.

• Plagiarized or copied entries will warrant automatic disqualification.
• Contestants can submit an entry using various images downloaded from the web given that it does not infringe someone else’s copyright.
• Deadline for submission is 11:59 PM (+8:00 GMT) February 24, 2013.
• Winner will be announced on March 1, 2013.

How to Join:

• Download and accomplish the registration form.
• Download Official Fingerboard Layout where you will draw or paste your designs.
• Submit your design and accomplished registration form on or before February 24, 2013 by emailing the official entry to raymond@maestroguitars.com with Subject heading as: Inlay Design Competition: Contestant’s Name
• For multiple entries, contestants only need to submit registration form once.
• Once entry is screened, contest organizer will post entry on Maestro’s FB page with following format, TITLE of DESIGN by @NAME of CONTESTANT. Contestants can promote their entry as soon as it is posted.
• Contestants are not allowed to post their entry directly on Maestro Facebook wall. Only those that are posted by Maestro will be official entries.

Terms and Conditions:

• Contestants will free Maestro from any indemnity or liability for the submitted materials.
• Contestants allows Maestro to use submitted designs for future business use. Maestro in return will acknowledge the designer or contributor of such inlays on official product photos posted.
• If winner is based overseas, the winner will shoulder all costs in shipping the prize to their desired destination, inclusive of all taxes, insurance, and custom duties.
• Prize is not convertible to cash and is not exchangeable or returnable.
• Delivery of prize is 30 to 60 days from date of announcement.

Made from solid Khaya Mahogany top, back and sides, it provides the traditional woody sound of a mahogany with refined basses. It is currently available in Victoria, Rosetta, Raffles, and Singa and is fitted with custom options like Florentine Cutaway, Beveled Armrest, and Soundport.

With its minimalistic design, the new all-mahogany guitars are stunning both in looks and sound.

Adam Rafferty is an American Fingerstyle Guitarist that became famous by his groovy and melodious solo guitar arrangements of songs of music greats such as Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Any avid fingerstyle guitarist have encountered his music either through his tours with guitar giants like Tommy Emmanuel and Don Ross or by his Youtube Channel that has millions of views.

Net proceeds for this event will go to Singapore Children’s Society.

Popularly used in classical guitars, we built our last Torres-IR with a Double Top Soundboard using thin layers of Sitka Spruce. The challenge is to adapt it to steel-string guitars; making sure that we are able to make the soundboard optimally stiff to withstand the force of the strings without losing tone and projection.

After successfully studying the nature of the Double-Top soundboards, both in terms of strength and tone, we are able to produce the first batch with of limited edition Custom Series guitars that are available in Victoria, Rosetta, Raffles, & Singa and with Indian Rosewood, Madagascar Rosewood and Cocobolo back and sides.

These 12 Limited Edition Custom Series guitars are one-of-a-kind for all Double-Top soundboard will be only made available for Custom Shop orders. All of these guitars are equipped with our custom options such as Beveled Armrest, Soundport and Florentine Cutaway and are furnished with a unique 12th fret inlay. In giving each guitar a signature Maestro sound, all are equipped with Maestro Ultra-Brace system that uses Spruce-Rosewood-Spruce bracing material  which adds warmness of the sound of the guitar.

Available in 6 different tonewood combination, each has its own unique voice and is furnished with signature inlays. Completed with Maestro Custom Options such as Beveled Cutaway, Soundport, and Ultra-Bracing System, Maestro provides again ukulele players all they can ask for.

Purple Heart, Peltogyne, is a native of Central and South America. It is a very hard and dense wood and some say that it is very difficult to handle. Brownish in color when cut, the wood will turn to a striking red-violet-purplish color after oxidation.

Our first Singa-PH is built with Soundport and Flamed Maple Beveled Armrest which complements its Flamed Maple binding. It sounds somewhere near a Bloodwood and Rosewood, well defined basses with clear trebles, rich and airy projection.

Astounding both in looks and sound, Purple Heart is perfect for someone who desires a unique instrument. Visit our Maestro Custom Shop to experience this finely crafted guitar.

Shun’s guitar is a first of its kind from the thousands we have built so far. As he specified, it is built in a Raffles(small jumbo) shape with Victoria (000) depth. This gives him playing comfort without compromising on the tone and projection he prefers. It has solid Adirondack Spruce top and solid Cocobolo back and sides and is braced with our Ultra-Bracing system, giving Shun the punch and projection, deep percussive basses and sweet trebles that is needed for his funk fingerstyle playing.

Built with custom options such as Soundport, Florentine Cutaway and Beveled Armrest, what makes Shun’s guitar standout is the scalloped fingerboard. Common in electric guitars, this is our first time to do such to an acoustic guitar. Trying Shun’s guitar, we were surprised how it is very playable due to the scalloping, enabling players to play with ease while producing clear and more defined notes.

Truly a distinct instrument, Shun’s guitar is furnished with an inlay of his signature on the headstock and a fingerboard inlay that symbolizes his playing style; Bass, Rhythm, and Melody.

“My Custom Shop Raffles-’Shun‘ model is a very well balanced sounding guitar with punchy bass and crystal highs. Even before its been played-in and seasoned it displays great timbre maturity. With its beautifully scalloped neck, Maestro has outdone themselves in making a guitar I think feels amazing. An instrument I’d love to play and I’d believe many other fingerstyle guitarist would too.”

It is a real privilege to build a unique instrument for a unique player. Shun will be moving to US this year to pursue his music. In the meantime, watch out for his videos, grab a copy of his album, see him perform live, and be mesmerized with his music.
